*Cut ties with family since leaving Madrid*

 

 

 

 

Andriana was the only daughter of a locksmith and his housewife. Living on the outskirts of Madrid, Andriana was born with a sense of adventure, and was always curious about the world around her. At one point on the fields near her home, she witnessed a group of Musketeers training with their rapiers. Andriana became fascinated by their skills. From that day forward, she decided that she, too, wanted to learn the ways of the rapier, and perhaps become a Musketeer herself.

However, her task to reach her goal would become her biggest challenge. Her strict father believed that women were only of good use within the household, and wanted his daughter to have nothing to do with handling a sword. This forced Andriana to train herself once she was a bit older. She read many books on rapier training and the life of a musketeer. When her father wasn't home, Andriana trained herself for many hours, using a long wooden board as a temporary sword.

Luckily for Andriana, her father never learned her secret. However, after her 18th birthday, he began to arrange a marriage between his daughter and a long-time best friend of his. When she learned of this, Andriana knew that she would never live the life she wanted, as the man she was supposed to marry had the same beliefs about women as her father did. During the night, she got on a horse and left Madrid, never to return again.

For a long time, Andriana traveled Spain. At first, she worked odd jobs, mostly for survival, but also saved a little for herself. When she saved enough, she brought her very first rapier, and still has it to this day.

From there, she entered contests mainly to test out her skills. At one point, she participated in a contest that took place in Barcelona. Despite her loss, her skills caught the eyes of the De Ruiz brothers, Fernando and Gabriel, whose parents were Musketeers themselves. They wished to have her join up with them as they were building their own musketeer force, and needed very skilled sword handlers to join. Andriana gratefully accepted, her dream finally becoming a reality. She would proudly serve her force, protecting all who threaten the peace of Barcelona, her new home.
