Long ago, the village that Erica grew up in was attacked by thieves. They raided many houses, mainly stealing, and killing anyone who tries to get in their way. Erica, along with her parents and older brother, stayed within their house with everything locked in hopes of the thieves not entering their own. However, the thieves were able to get in as they shattered their windows and knocked down their doors.

 

Her father attempted to protect his family by attacking the thieves, but the criminals nearly bested him. Wanting to protect her father, Erica attempted to jump in, but one of the thieves knocked her down. He was just about to strike her down when a woman in green intervened, killing and injuring the thieves with her rapier. Erica could only watch with amazement over the woman's skills and bravery. Soon, the woman checked on the family to see if they were all right. Then, the woman lead them out of the house to get to safety. Erica still remembers holding her hand as she was lead away.

It turned out that a group of Musketeers happened to be nearby when the thieves came to the village. Her savior, who Erica later learned was named Marianela De Ruiz, was one of the few women of the force. Marianela's actions, her bravery, and her kindness towards her family had inspired Erica. For the next twelve years, she learned the ways of the rapier in hopes of someday becoming a Musketeer herself.

For a long time, Erica wanted to meet up with Marianela again. She hoped to personally thank her, and perhaps even learn a bit of swordplay from her. However, a few years ago, Erica was saddened to learn that Marianela and her husband were murdered during a mission in the East. The two had left behind two grown sons, both who were just a little older than her.

Erica knew that meeting with Fernando and Gabriel may have different results. But as the sons of a woman who Erica idolized for so long (and whom she never personally thanked), Erica felt the need to meet with them. When her long-time master, the one who trained her in the rapier style, believed she was ready to travel, Erica headed out, with Spain being her first stop...
